An 8-year-old boy tragically lost his life in Surat, Gujarat, after suffering a fatal neck injury from a kite string while cycling, according to police reports on Friday.
The heartbreaking accident took place at the Anand Villa apartments in the Jahangirabad area on Thursday, coinciding with the day after the kite-flying festival, Makar Sankranti.
Rehansh Borse, the victim, was cycling with friends when a kite string entangled around his neck, inflicting critical injuries. Despite being rushed to the hospital, he was declared dead upon arrival, said Rander police station inspector RJ Chaudhary. A distressing video of the incident has surfaced online, highlighting the tragic consequences of the festival tradition.
