Sanjay Leela Bhansali, renowned filmmaker, has announced his forthcoming project 'Jai Somnath', to be directed by Ketan Mehta. The film revisits the pivotal historical event of Mahmud of Ghazni's attack on the Somnath Temple in 1025–1026 CE, marking a millennium since the temple's desecration and subsequent restoration.

'Jai Somnath' aims to highlight the undefeatable spirit of India and the timeless glory of its civilization. Scheduled for a 2027 release under Bhansali Productions and Maya Movies, Mehta will also pen the screenplay, promising a gripping narrative interweaved with historical authenticity.

The announcement was shared via Instagram, accompanied by the poetic promise: 'A temple can be broken, not the faith.' Bhansali's focus extends beyond this historical piece, with his film 'Love & War', starring Alia Bhatt, Ranbir Kapoor, and Vicky Kaushal, also in the pipeline.
