Prasar Bharati has introduced the WAVES OTT platform, a digital streaming service aimed at distributing a variety of content such as radio, TV shows, films, and live events. This move was disclosed to the Lok Sabha, as addressed by Union Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting, L Murugan.
The WAVES OTT platform, which was launched in November 2024, has already registered over 84 lakh users. In conjunction with this, Prasar Bharati's PB-SHABD, introduced earlier in March 2024, facilitates news dissemination across the nation in 15 languages.
Initially offering free access for a year, this period has been extended till March 2027, allowing the public continued access to a vast archive of Prasar Bharati's TV shows, documentaries, and other programs. This strategy aims to boost the discoverability and engagement of Prasar Bharati's rich content.
