On Saturday, a court granted a three-day police custody for film director Ranjith, after his arrest linked to alleged sexual harassment during a film shoot. The Ernakulam Chief Judicial Magistrate accepted the police's petition for Ranjith's custody until Monday evening.

Ranjith, who had been in Ernakulam sub jail for three days, was presented before the court. He filed a bail petition, maintaining his innocence. His lawyer argued that procedural norms were not followed during the arrest and cited concerns about Ranjith's health during the bail plea.

The court has deferred the decision on the bail. Ranjith was taken into custody on Tuesday night from Thodupuzha, following the complaint by an actress who alleged Ranjith harassed her inside a caravan at a Fort Kochi film shoot.
