Tragedy Strikes as Tourist Drowns in Varkala

In a tragic event at Varkala, a 19-year-old tourist named Priyanka drowned in the sea on Saturday. The young woman, originally from Odisha and studying in Bengaluru, was swept away by strong currents while enjoying time with friends.
Officials from the Varkala Fire and Rescue Service reported that Priyanka and her friends were staying at a local resort when the incident occurred around 6 p.m. Despite efforts by lifeguards to save her, Priyanka was pronounced dead at a nearby hospital.
The police have registered a case and are actively investigating the circumstances surrounding the drowning. The body will be released to her family following a postmortem examination, authorities confirmed.
