South Korea's leading Kpop agencies are collaborating on an unprecedented global music festival, 'Fanomenon', as announced by HYBE, SM Entertainment, YG Entertainment, and JYP Entertainment. This large-scale event, inspired by Coachella, aims to highlight Korean popular culture to an international audience.
The project has garnered support from the government's Popular Culture Exchange Committee, aiming to expand Kpop's global presence through collective industry efforts. JYP founder and committee co-chair, Park Jin-young, originally introduced 'Fanomenon' as a concept blending 'fan' and 'phenomenon'.
Anticipated to begin in South Korea by 2027, with overseas events in 2028, the festival represents a significant step in President Lee Jae Myung's strategy to bolster the Kpop industry. As talks progress, companies emphasize thoughtful planning, adhering to market conditions and industry feedback.
