Rising Mercury: Ayodhya's Ram Temple Adapts to Scorching Heatwave

A severe heatwave in Ayodhya has led to a decrease in devotees visiting the Ram temple. Authorities have implemented measures like air-cooled waiting halls and modifying offerings to cope with the heat. The mercury remains above 40 degrees Celsius, necessitating water spraying along temple paths for relief.

A sweltering heatwave has significantly reduced the number of devotees at Ayodhya's Ram temple, officials reported on Sunday. In response, special measures such as air-cooled waiting areas have been introduced to mitigate the impact of soaring temperatures.

According to the Indian Meteorological Department, Ayodhya recorded a maximum temperature of 42 degrees Celsius on Saturday, with forecasts suggesting continued heat over the coming days. Ram Temple Trust member Anil Mishra highlighted the installation of facilities that can accommodate up to 3,000 people.

The Ayodhya Municipal Corporation employs fogging machines for water spraying along temple paths to lower temperatures. Additionally, offerings have been altered to include cooling items such as lassi and fruit juices. Modified rituals ensure comfort for the deity amidst the extreme heat, officials noted.
