Youth Congress Stages Unconventional 'Sleep Protest' Against Power Cuts in Kerala

In a unique demonstration, Youth Congress activists carried out a 'sleep protest' outside the Kerala State Electricity Board (KSEB) office in Vandazhi, Palakkad district, to highlight ongoing power cuts.

Arriving at midnight, the protestors equipped with mats and pillows staged their protest inside the premises, prompting KSEB officials to call the police. The activists were removed after about an hour of peaceful demonstration.

Critics describe the power interruptions as increasingly severe in the sweltering summer heat. Meanwhile, KSEB and state Electricity Minister K Krishnankutty have denied any unannounced load shedding, attributing the outages to spikes in demand during peak hours. Citizens are encouraged to limit usage during these times.
