Historic Reunion: Sacred Relics of Lord Buddha Return to Ladakh

Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Friday described the return of sacred relics of Lord Buddha to Ladakh after 75 years as a 'historic reunion,' emphasizing the region's enduring role as a 'living land of dharma,' known for nurturing Buddhist knowledge over the centuries.

Shah underscored the modern relevance of Buddha's teachings, stating that the message of peace, compassion, and the middle path holds greater importance today than ever before. Speaking at the sacred relics exposition and 2569th Buddha Purnima celebrations in Leh, he praised Ladakh for safeguarding and expanding the teachings of Buddhism.

Highlighting Ladakh's strategic role in spreading Buddha's teachings, Shah pointed to historic trade routes that facilitated cultural exchanges, including through ideas and artistic traditions. He appealed to the local administration to ensure access for followers of all faiths to visit the relics and emphasized the significance of moral discipline for a wise life.
