President Droupadi Murmu, on Friday, honored writer Raghunath Murmu on his birth anniversary, acknowledging his pivotal role in defining the Santali language through the creation of the Ol Chiki script.

Raghunath Murmu's vision and creativity are credited for giving Santali a new identity, fostering education, literature, and expression within the Santhal community. The President, also from Rairangpur, Odisha, emphasized the significance of Murmu's work in the cultural and societal advancement of the Santhal people.

Alongside President Murmu, Odisha's Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi and Leader of Opposition Naveen Patnaik paid respects, highlighting Murmu's unmatched contributions to cultural preservation and the global recognition of the Santali language.
