A tragic incident occurred at the Bargi Dam in Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh, where a cruise boat capsized during a storm, leading to ten confirmed fatalities. The mishap, which happened on Thursday evening, has raised serious concerns about safety protocols, with survivors alleging negligence, including the failure to distribute life jackets promptly.
The most recent body retrieval on Saturday is suspected to be that of a six-year-old boy, Viraj Soni, pending family identification. Authorities are intensifying search efforts to locate three other missing tourists, including two children. The operation involves more than 200 rescuers, including State and National Disaster Response Forces and Army divers deployed from Agra.
In response to the calamity, the state government has ordered a thorough investigation into the incident and halted similar boat operations to prevent further tragedies. Meanwhile, security footage confirmed 43 individuals headed toward the ill-fated vessel, while the identities of 41 passengers have been established. The tragedy has prompted stern actions, including the dismissal of crew members deemed responsible.
