In a significant move to improve bilateral water cooperation, India and Nepal have drafted a new roadmap focusing on flood control and irrigation. Top officials from both countries convened in Kathmandu for the 11th meeting of the India-Nepal Joint Committee on Kosi and Gandak Projects.

The Indian delegation, led by Santosh Kumar Mall, and the Nepalese team, led by Mitra Baral, reviewed the progress of collaborative efforts. A press release from the Indian Embassy highlighted the meeting's outcomes, which included a commitment to removing encroachments and tackling drainage issues.

Both nations agreed to utilize essential materials such as sand, soil, and silt for erosion control in anticipation of upcoming monsoons. This roadmap marks a continuation of discussions from the previous meeting in April 2022, held in Patna.
