Actor Trisha Krishnan paid a visit to Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) chief Vijay's home in Chennai on Monday, drawing attention amid high political tension as TVK leads in 109 of the 234 seats in the Tamil Nadu Assembly Election 2026. This visit sparked celebrations among TVK supporters across the state.
Outside the TVK office in Chennai, party workers gathered in large numbers, energetically waving flags, distributing sweets, and dancing to Vijay's popular 'whistle podu' song as the party demonstrated a strong electoral performance. A festive mood engulfed Vijay's residence as his family engaged in spontaneous celebrations, echoing scenes from his films.
Vijay's cousin expressed confidence in his leadership, highlighting his youth and energy that inspire change in Tamil Nadu. Emphasizing Vijay's promises, she noted his potential to effect significant transformation. His father, SA Chandrasekhar, echoed this sentiment, predicting impactful change in the state under Vijay's leadership.
In a significant electoral shift, Vijay held a lead in the Tiruchirappalli East Assembly constituency with a margin of 6,499 votes over DMK's Inigo Irudayaraj after the first count. TVK's independent run has disrupted the traditional dominance of alliances led by DMK and AIADMK.
