Boosting Maharashtra: A New Era for Filmmaking

Maharashtra's Cultural Affairs Minister, Ashish Shelar, has initiated a three-member committee to enhance incentive-driven policies for the film industry. The focus is on subsidies and support systems to solidify Maharashtra as a prime filming location. Initiatives include new shooting sites, infrastructure upgrades, and simplified production permissions.

The newly-formed committee is expected to deliver a comprehensive report within three months, concentrating on subsidies and support mechanisms. This move comes after discussions at the Sahyadri Guest House with Hindi film producers regarding challenges encountered during filming in Mumbai and Maharashtra.

Substantial conversations also revolved around needed infrastructure, permission strategies, and policy reformation. Despite current infrastructure projects affecting some locations, new filming hubs are being developed, including destinations in Kolhapur and film cities in Nagpur and Nashik. The state aims to innovate with a hybrid model to modernize ND Studio and elevate Film City operations.
