The Kedarnath temple, a prominent Hindu shrine, has reported an outstanding financial performance in the 2024-25 fiscal year, according to data obtained via a Right to Information (RTI) query. The temple's earnings soared to Rs 71.06 crore, marking an impressive 34.32% increase compared to the previous year's Rs 52.90 crore.
The funds amassed from various offerings and services such as special pujas, 'thali bhet', and helicopter services have substantially contributed to this upsurge. This boost in revenue will aid in the sustenance and maintenance of not just the Kedarnath Temple, but also 46 other temples managed by the Shri Badrinath-Kedarnath Temple Committee (BKTC).
Despite increased income, expenditures also saw a rise, pegged at Rs 66.39 crore primarily due to salaries and the upkeep of guest houses and schools. BKTC chairman Hemant Dwivedi highlighted that finance management remains pivotal to enhancing visitor experience and preserving the sanctity of these sacred sites.
