BJP MLA C Bhojarajan on Monday condemned the Nilgiris district administration's failure to extend formal invitations to elected representatives for the 128th Flower Show at the Government Botanical Garden.
Bhojarajan, who represents the Udhagamandalam Assembly constituency, visited the garden and criticized authorities for bypassing protocol. He noted that government invitations weren't sent to key regional public figures including Nilgiris MP A Raja, Coonoor MLA K M Raju, Gudalur MLA Dravida Mani, and himself. The absence of Nilgiris District Collector Lakshmi Bhavya Taneeru at the event also drew his ire.
Reflecting on past events, Bhojarajan remarked that last year's flower show was grandly organized by the former chief minister, but standards have notably declined this year. The 128th edition, a significant tourist attraction, opened to the public on Monday and will continue until May 28.
