Simon Robinson, a distinguished senior executive from Reuters, has been appointed director of news and current affairs at the Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC). The announcement was jointly made by ABC and Reuters on Thursday.

Succeeding Justin Stevens, who stepped down citing personal and professional reasons, Robinson will assume his role in September. Currently, the executive editor at Reuters, London-based Robinson, will be warmly welcomed by ABC's managing director, Hugh Marks, as stated on the organization's website.

Known for his award-winning investigative work, Robinson's career spans several decades and continents. Before becoming Reuters' executive editor in October 2022, he led significant investigations and enterprise reporting in regions including Europe, the Middle East, and Africa for nearly seven years. Robinson also boasts an impressive tenure at Time magazine, covering stories across more than 50 countries.
