Jennifer Lopez stunned by Mumbai group's performance; throws 'shoe' in appreciation

Mumbai-based dance troupe 'The Kings'  who performed at the American dance reality show 'World of Dance' on February 26 impressed celebrity judge Jennifer Lopez so much that she picked up her shoe and threw it at them as a mark of respect and appreciation. Fellow judges Ne-Yo and Derek Hough also threw their shoes at the troupe who are representing India in the third season of the reality show. The troupe kick-started the show with a jaw-dropping hip-hop performance on ‘Dhakka Laga Bukka’ from 2004 Bollywood film titled ‘Yuva’.

Music director A.R. Rahman who has composed the music and sung Dhakka Laga Bukka for Yuva was amazed by The Kings. He took to Twitter to praise the dance troupe. He wrote, "It's nice to relive "Dhakka Laga Bukka" through such a powerful performance. All the best @kingsunitedcrew and #WorldofDance.".

'The Kings' performance was a blend of vigorous dance moves and dangerous flips. JLo shared the video of the groups’ act on her Twitter handle and wrote, "Shook to the core." The dance group took to their Instagram account and shared the moment where the judges threw their shoes.

They wrote, “Judges blown away by #Thekings performance and for the first time ever they threw their  as a sign of #Respect @kings_united_india  #LotMoretocome  #KingsUnited #nbcworldofdance #Wod#Wod3 #JudgesReaction #Reaction#performancereaction.” Derek Hough amazed by the group’s act also shared a gif where JLo and he are seen throwing their shoes at the group. He captioned it, "That's how you open a show!!! Also, @JLo shoe is worth 1 million dollars, so you can prob just take that and call it a day."

Last year, ‘World of Dance’ was left smitten by Shantanu Maheshwari's team ‘Desi Hoppers' performance. ‘The Kings’ also known as ‘Kings United’ is a hip-hop dance troupe who were second runners-up at the ‘World Hip Hop Championship’ in 2015 and has also appeared on Star Plus' Dance Championship.
