Veteran filmmaker Robert Zemeckis is set to direct Disney's long-gestating "Pinocchio" live-action remake. According to Entertainment Weekly, Zemeckis will also co-write a new draft of the screenplay with Chris Weitz.
The original animated movie revolves around living puppet who, with the help of a cricket as his conscience, must prove himself worthy to become a real boy. The remake of the classic animated story was announced in 2015. Filmmakers Sam Mendes and Paul King were at one point attached to direct the movie.
