The Oakland Athletics' pursuit of the Houston Astros in the AL West took a hit on Sunday as they placed lefthander Sean Manaea on the 10-day disabled list with a left shoulder impingement.
In a corresponding move, the club recalled righthander Emilio Pagan from Triple-A Nashville. Pagan had been sent to Nashville earlier in the day to make room for spot starter Chris Bassitt.
Manaea, 26, has gone 12-9 with a 3.59 ERA in 27 starts for the A's this season, his third with the team.
He threw a no-hitter on April 22 in a 3-0 win over the Boston Red Sox.
Pagan has a 3-0 record with a 3.71 ERA for the A's this season. He's appeared in 45 games and racked up 53 strikeouts in 53 1/3 innings.
The A's currently trail the Astros by 1.5 games.
