Grizzlies waive G Simmons

The Memphis Grizzlies waived guard Kobi Simmons, general manager Chris Wallace announced Tuesday.

Simmons, 21, joined the Grizzlies last year after going undrafted following one season in college at Arizona.

He split his rookie year between the Grizzlies (32 games) and their G League affiliate, the Memphis Hustle, averaging 6.1 points and 2.1 assists in 20.1 minutes per game for the Grizzlies. He made 12 starts at the NBA level but shot just 28.2 percent from 3-point range.

With the Hustle, Simmons started 26 games and averaged 15.1 points, 3.9 assists, and 2.7 rebounds in 30.9 minutes per game while shooting 36.1 percent from deep.

The 6-foot-4, 170-pounder was a McDonald's All-American in 2016 after starting in high school in Alpharetta, Ga.
