Indian Army families receive Janmashtami prasadam

In a special gesture, the Shri Krishna Janmasthan Seva Sansthan sent Janmashtami prasadam to the families of security forces personnel killed in the line of duty, an official said today.

The prasadam (religious offering) was sent to 72 such families residing in Mathura.

The birth of Lord Krishna is celebrated on Janmashtami. This year the Hindu festival was celebrated on September 3.

Mathura, according to mythology, is the birthplace of Lord Krishna.
