6 die in rain-related incidents in UP

Six people died in rain-related incidents in Uttar Pradesh since Thursday night, taking the toll in different parts of the state since September 1 to 82, officials said on Friday.

The heavy showers claimed the lives of two people in Mirzapur while Lucknow, Ghazipur, Kannauj, and Sultanpur reported one death each, officials said.

Met office said southwest monsoon was normal over the state and light to moderate rain/ thundershowers were likely at a few places.

Heavy rain occurred at isolated places over eastern parts of the state, they added.

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath undertook an aerial survey of the flood-hit areas of Kanpur, Unnao and Farrukhabad districts and also distributed relief material to the affected people, officials said.
