IAEA and Brunei Darussalam sign Country Programme Framework

Identifies priority areas where the transfer of nuclear technology and technical cooperation resources will be directed to support national development goals.

Haji Mohammad Azmi bin Hj Mohd Hanifah, Permeant Secretary of Energy and Industry Department on behalf of the Government of Brunei Darussalam and Mr. Dazhu Yang, IAEA Deputy Director General and Head of the Department of Technical Cooperation, signed the Country Programme Framework (CPF) for the period of 2017–2022 on 17 April 2018, and 6 September 2018 respectively.

A CPF is the frame of reference for the medium-term planning of technical cooperation between a Member State and the IAEA and identifies priority areas where the transfer of nuclear technology and technical cooperation resources will be directed to support national development goals.

Brunei Darussalam has been an IAEA Member State since 2014. It's 2017–2022 CPF identifies five priority areas:

1. Human health and nutrition

2. Food and agriculture

3. Water and environment

4. Sustainable energy development

5. Radiation safety and security of radiation sources
