FirstEnergy to resolve criminal investigation with $230 mln penalty

FirstEnergy Corp said on Thursday it will pay $230 million as a penalty to resolve a criminal investigation launched by the U.S. Attorney's Office.

Under a three-year deferred prosecution agreement, the electric-utility company has agreed to pay the penalty and to the government's filing of a single charge of conspiracy to commit honest services wire fraud.
