Police jawan injured in IED blast in Chhattisgarh

A jawan of the police's District Reserve Guard (DRG) was injured on Friday in a blast triggered by Naxals in Chhattisgarh's Bijapur district, police said.
A Naxal who was seen fleeing from the spot after the blast was arrested, they said. A team of the DRG and the CRPF's `CoBRA' (Commando Battalion for Resolute Action) unit was out for patrolling in Gangaloor and Mirtur police station areas, Superintendent of Police Mohit Garg said.
When the team was returning to the camp Friday afternoon, Naxals detonated an Improvised Explosive Device (IED), he said. Assistant Constable Aaytu Hemla of the DRG sustained a minor injury in the blast, Garg said.
The security personnel spotted one of the Naxals, fleeing from the spot and he was caught after a short chase, the SP said.
He was identified as Raju Punem (24). The injured jawan was undergoing treatment at the district hospital, he said.
