Democrat Sinema defeats Republican McSally for Arizona Senate seat

Democrat Kyrsten Sinema defeated Republican Martha McSally to win a close U.S. Senate race in Arizona following last Tuesday's congressional elections, according to the Associated Press.
Sinema and McSally are both members of the U.S. House of Representatives and Sinema will be the first woman U.S. senator from Arizona. She will succeed outgoing Republican Senator Jeff Flake. The outcome of the race will not affect Republican control of the chamber.
