Zelenskyy Seeks Energy Aid and Investments at Berlin Ukraine Recovery Conference

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy called for immediate aid to repair Ukraine's electricity network and long-term investments in its energy system at the Berlin Ukraine Recovery Conference. He urged more support to fend off Russian missile attacks and highlighted the destruction of nine gigawatts of electricity generating capacity.

On Tuesday, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy appealed for immediate international assistance to repair his country's electricity network and secure long-term investments in Ukraine's energy system. This appeal marked the opening of the Ukraine Recovery Conference in Berlin.

Embarking on a week of intense diplomacy, which includes attending the Group of Seven summit in Italy and a global peace summit in Switzerland, Zelenskyy reiterated his call for support to repel Russian missile attacks. He emphasized the ongoing attacks on Ukraine’s power grid, resulting in nationwide rolling blackouts.

Zelenskyy stressed the urgency of equipment needs for heating and electricity plants to combat the destruction of nine gigawatts of energy capacity. He highlighted the potential mutual benefits of foreign investments in Ukraine’s energy sector, promoting it as a high-yield opportunity.
