Union Minister Launches 10th Round of Commercial Coal Mine Auctions in Hyderabad
Union Coal and Mines Minister G Kishan Reddy launched the 10th round of commercial coal mine auctions in Hyderabad. In a significant move towards bolstering domestic energy production, Union Coal and Mines Minister G Kishan Reddy inaugurated the 10th round of commercial coal mine auctions in Hyderabad on Friday.
The latest round features 67 coal mines and aims to enhance energy security by increasing domestic coal production. Highlighting coal's role in power generation, Reddy referred to it as 'black gold' and underscored the sector's critical part in achieving the goals of Atma Nirbhar Bharat.
Reddy also pointed out the importance of reducing coal imports and mentioned the success of previous auctions, with 107 mines successfully auctioned in the past nine rounds. The transparent auction process, launched in 2020, has been well received by the industry.
