In a tragic incident, a 16-year-old girl from Thane district in Maharashtra allegedly committed suicide after being forbidden by her father from downloading Snapchat on her mobile phone, police reported on Monday.
The incident unfolded Friday night in the Nilje area of Dombivli, leaving the community in shock. According to an official from Manpada police station, the girl had downloaded the Snapchat application, which enraged her father.
Consequently, the girl allegedly hanged herself from the bedroom ceiling. She was found dead by her family the following day. Police have sent the body for postmortem and registered a case of accidental death.
