MEIL Wins Record Nuclear Project in Bid to Boost India's Clean Energy

Megha Engineering & Infrastructure Ltd (MEIL) secures a major contract worth Rs 12,800 crore for the construction of two 700 MW reactors at Kaiga, Karnataka. This record-breaking project is the company's entry into the nuclear sector and a pivotal advancement in India's clean energy landscape.

Megha Engineering & Infrastructure Ltd (MEIL) on Wednesday announced its successful bid for a groundbreaking nuclear project valued at Rs 12,800 crore. The project signifies MEIL's strategic leap into the nuclear energy sector.

This landmark contract, awarded by the Nuclear Power Corporation of India (NPCIL), involves building two 700 MW reactors at Kaiga, Karnataka, marking a critical step in India's pursuit of clean and reliable nuclear energy.

According to MEIL, the tender process commenced in May 2023 and saw participation from several industry giants including BHEL and L&T. MEIL emerged as the lowest bidder in October, showcasing its technical prowess and cost-efficiency with a bid of Rs 12,799.92 crore.

Ch. Subbaiah, Director of MEIL, highlighted the project's significance, stating, 'This contract is a major milestone for MEIL and our foray into the nuclear energy sector.' The company emphasized its commitment to innovation and excellence, expressing excitement about contributing to India's self-reliance in clean energy solutions.
