BCGCL Hosts First Pre-Bid Meeting for Pioneering Coal Gasification Project

Bharat Coal Gasification & Chemicals Ltd (BCGCL) held its initial pre-bid meeting for its first coal gasification project in Noida. The meeting aimed at discussing the creation of a detailed feasibility report and was attended by representatives of eight prospective bidders. BCGCL continues to advance this project in Odisha.

Bharat Coal Gasification & Chemicals Ltd (BCGCL) organized its introductory pre-bid meeting for its inaugural coal gasification project, the government announced on Wednesday.

Bharat Coal Gasification & Chemicals Ltd (BCGCL), a subsidiary of State-owned Coal India (CIL), is spearheading the coal-to-chemicals business. The meeting, held in Noida on Monday, provided a platform for discussions, clarifications, and collaboration opportunities, besides disseminating crucial project information.

The assembly saw participation from representatives of eight prospective bidders, according to a statement from the coal ministry. Last month, BCGCL issued tenders for three lump sum turnkey packages, crucial for finalizing the detailed feasibility report necessary for the project's progression.

The government has greenlit the investment and the formation of a Joint Venture between Coal India and BHEL, with Coal India holding a 51 percent stake. As a result, BCGCL, a subsidiary of CIL, has been established to pursue this coal-to-chemical initiative.

BCGCL is making significant strides with its maiden coal gasification project, slated to be established in the Lakhanpur area of Mahanadi Coalfields Limited (MCL) in Odisha. The project has recently achieved several key milestones, including the issuance of tenders.
