In a decisive operation, the Telangana Drugs Control Administration, in collaboration with the Commissioner's Task Force and Market Police Station staff, seized illegally stocked Termin Injections (Mephentermine Sulphate Injection) from MD. Khasim in Secunderabad on Wednesday. These injections, primarily used to treat hypotension, were being misused by gym-goers for bodybuilding purposes.

Acting on credible information, officials from the Hyderabad Zone's Drugs Control Administration, along with the North Zone Commissioner's Task Force and Market Police, conducted a raid on July 10. They discovered stocks of the cardiac stimulant drug 'Mephentermine Sulphate Injection,' which were being illicitly sold to enhance physical performance in bodybuilding. These stocks were seized and reportedly supplied by MD. Khasim.

Mephentermine Sulphate Injection is a cardiac stimulant used to normalize low blood pressure often arising from anesthesia during spinal surgeries. It works by increasing noradrenaline release, boosting cardiac output, and constricting blood vessels to rapidly elevate blood pressure. It should only be administered under a doctor's supervision to avoid adverse effects such as psychosis and cardiovascular disorders.

In a separate incident, Telangana Drug Control Administration seized overpriced 'CANDIFACE-200 Capsules' (Itraconazole Capsules 200 mg) in Nagole Village. Manufactured by Healing Pharma India Pvt. Ltd., the product was sold at rates significantly higher than the ceiling price set by the Central Government. The firm charged Rs. 275 for 10 capsules, exceeding the set price of Rs. 24.77 per capsule, violating the Drugs (Prices Control) Order, 2013.

Officers B Govind Singh and G. Anil led the Termin Injection raid, while Dr. B. Lakshmi Narayana and B Praveen spearheaded the operation against the overpriced antifungal capsules. Legal action is pending against all offenders involved in these violations.
