DGCA Approves Electronic Flight Folders for IndiGo, Boosting Efficiency and Sustainability

The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has given the green light to IndiGo airlines to use Electronic Flight Folders (EFF). This innovative digital solution replaces traditional paper-based flight planning, enhancing operational efficiency, fuel savings, and significantly reducing carbon emissions in the aviation sector.

The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has officially approved the implementation of Electronic Flight Folders (EFF) for IndiGo airlines, heralding a transformative leap in aviation efficiency and sustainability. This pivotal shift from traditional paper-based flight processes to a unified digital platform promises to revolutionize flight planning and documentation.

An Electronic Flight Folder, essential for pre-flight briefing, consolidates vital data such as operational flight plans, weather updates, NOTAMs, and airfield information into a digital format. This data is integrated into the pilot's Electronic Flight Bag (EFB), accessible on devices like iPads or tablets, streamlining the flow of information.

EFF technology significantly enhances fuel efficiency by optimizing flight paths with the latest data, reducing fuel consumption and emissions. This innovation is set to save large amounts of fuel annually and cut down on greenhouse gas emissions by approximately 800 tons per year, equating to the preservation of around 2200 trees. This milestone highlights DGCA's and aviation stakeholders' dedication to sustainability and operational excellence.
