Kannur ASI Faces Suspension for Attempted Murder at Petrol Pump

A Kannur police driver has been suspended for allegedly trying to murder a petrol pump staffer after a payment dispute. The incident, caught on video, led to a swift police response and charges against the accused.

An auxiliary sub-inspector (ASI) driver from Kannur police has been suspended for allegedly attempting to murder a petrol pump staff member, authorities confirmed on Monday. The suspect, K Santhosh Kumar, 50, reportedly assaulted a staff member named Anil.

The incident unfolded on Sunday at 3:30 PM when Kumar refused to fully pay after fueling his vehicle. Anil blocked Kumar's car by standing before it, prompting Kumar to accelerate, causing Anil to fall onto the bonnet. Kumar continued driving for a kilometer along the National Highway with Anil clinging to the bonnet, police detailed.

A video capturing the incident went viral, resulting in Kumar being charged with attempted murder. Police Commissioner Ajith Kumar confirmed the officer's suspension.
