Kerala Health Department Suspends Three Over Lift Incident at Thiruvananthapuram Medical College

Three staff members of Thiruvananthapuram Government Medical College Hospital were suspended after a patient was stuck in a lift for over 1.5 days. Health Minister Veena George ordered a prompt investigation.

The Kerala Health Department has suspended three staff members at Thiruvananthapuram Government Medical College Hospital following an ordeal in which a patient was trapped in a lift for more than 1.5 days. The suspended staff include two lift operators and a duty sergeant.

The patient, Raveendran Nair of Ullur, was stranded in the lift from Saturday until his rescue on Monday morning at 6 a.m. Family members filed a missing persons report after being unable to contact him.

In response to the incident, Health Minister Veena George directed an immediate investigation, led by a team from the Department of Medical Education, the joint director, principal, and superintendent of the hospital.
