Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel has given in-principle approval for allocating Rs 1,470 crore to upgrade and strengthen roads that connect industrial and quarry areas in Gujarat. This initiative aims at enhancing road infrastructure, covering 688 kilometers of roads in 65 such regions. Patel's approach takes into account the specific needs of the Industries and Mines Department.
The construction of these roads will alleviate traffic congestion in cities, towns, and villages they pass through, ensuring smoother vehicular movement. Gujarat, which boasts the highest industrial area in the country, has adopted a policy-driven approach that emphasizes robust infrastructure and ease of doing business. The state has witnessed exceptional industrial growth due to the Vibrant Global Summit launched under Prime Minister Narendra Modi. This has furthered Gujarat's status as the leading recipient of FDI in the nation.
As part of the new allocation, 83 kilometers of roads will be widened to four lanes, 173 kilometers expanded to 10 meters, and 432 kilometers will undergo strengthening and upgrading. The plan also includes necessary improvements to bridges and drainage systems, alongside the construction of flyovers where needed. Special attention will be given to rural roads linking quarry areas and industries, ensuring they meet both current and future needs. This comprehensive strategy will cover all regions of the state, including North, Central, South, Kutch, and Saurashtra.
The Chief Minister's approval for road development is expected to enhance the Ease of Doing Business by facilitating the movement of raw materials, finished products, and minerals. This will encourage the establishment of more industries in Gujarat, significantly contributing to PM Modi's vision of 'Viksit Bharat' and 'Viksit Gujarat'.
