Naxal IED Blast Claims Two Lives in Bijapur, Anti-Naxal Operation Yields Major Results

Two security personnel have lost their lives and four were injured in an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) blast triggered by naxals in Bijapur district, Bastar Police said on Thursday. The operation followed intelligence about Naxal groups in the border area between Bijapur, Dantewada, and Sukma.
The deceased jawans have been identified as Constable Bharat Sahu of Raipur and Constable Satyer Singh Kange of Narayanpur. The incident occurred while the security personnel were returning from a search operation as part of an anti-Naxal initiative.
On July 17, 2024, two STF jawans lost their lives, and four were injured due to an IED blast in the Tarrem area of Bijapur, the police confirmed. Additional forces have been deployed to the area, and the injured have received necessary medical treatment.
In a related event, a major anti-Naxal operation on Wednesday at Wandoli Village resulted in the deaths of 12 naxals and the recovery of numerous arms. The operation, led by the Deputy Superintendent of Police (Operations), began based on reliable intelligence of naxal presence.
During the area search, security forces discovered 12 bodies, including that of DVCM Laxman Atram, alias Vishal Atram. The operation also netted seven automatic firearms. A police sub-inspector and one jawan sustained injuries but were evacuated and are reported to be out of immediate danger.
