The Meteorological Office on Thursday issued a very heavy rainfall alert for parts of Madhya Pradesh, set to unfold over the next 24 hours. According to regional meteorologist B S Yadav, six locations in the state, including Sehore, Rajgarh, Agar Malwa, Sheopur Kalan, and Morena, could witness rainfall ranging from 115mm to 204mm.

Yadav cited a trough line passing through the Kota-Sagar-Pendra region as the reason behind the expected downpour in southern Madhya Pradesh. In the last 24 hours, Sehore and Pachmarhi recorded significant rainfall of 90mm. The alert extends to heavy rainfall in seven other districts where accumulation will range from 64mm to 115mm.

Temperatures in Northern and Northeastern Madhya Pradesh have risen, with Chhatarpur's Bijawar recording a maximum of 39 degrees Celsius in the last 24 hours. Yadav also noted a likely lack of rainfall in the northern regions, while the southern regions may experience good rainfall. Meanwhile, moderate thunderstorms with lightning are forecasted for Bhind, Morena, and Gwalior during the forenoon, and light thunderstorms in several other areas during the afternoon.
