Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel on Thursday attended the foundation stone laying ceremony for the 'Shramik Basera Yojana' at Jagatpur in Ahmedabad. The initiative, aligned with Prime Minister Narendra Modi's slogan of 'Shramev Jayate,' aims to provide decent housing and health facilities to construction workers and their families.
Addressing the event, CM Patel echoed Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya's vision of 'Har Haat Ko Kam, Har Kam Ko Samman.' He emphasized the government's commitment to improving workers' living standards by offering food, health, housing, and income support. Patel noted the vital role workers play in Gujarat's economic growth.
Under the scheme, the government plans to establish temporary accommodations for around 3 lakh laborers near Kadianakas over the next three years, with a budget of Rs. 1500 crore. The facilities will include clean water, kitchens, electricity, and medical services. The first phase of the project will benefit 15,000 workers with 17 Baseras in cities like Ahmedabad, Gandhinagar, Vadodara, and Rajkot.
