UP CM Adityanath Marks Swift Action After Tragic Dibrugarh Express Derailment
A tragic derailment of the Dibrugarh Express in Gonda district claimed two lives and injured seven. Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath assured that rescue operations are underway and the injured will receive proper treatment. Efforts are being made to restore normal train services.

Expressing grief over the Dibrugarh Express train derailment that claimed two lives, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Thursday confirmed that all injured victims have been transported to the hospital for proper treatment. The UP CM asserted that rescue and relief operations are ongoing, urging officials to expedite efforts at the site.
"The train accident in Gonda district is extremely saddening. District administration officials have been directed to prioritize relief and rescue operations. Patients received immediate transportation to the hospital for necessary care. I pray to Lord Shri Ram for their swift recovery," stated Adityanath in a post on X. Gonda MP Kirti Vardhan Singh, who visited the accident scene, confirmed that rescue operations are active and arrangements have been initiated to transport passengers to the main road.
"I have met with all relevant officials. Injured parties have been transferred to Mankapur CHC and Gonda. We are facilitating routes to transport the rest of the passengers, including arranging a bus to Mankapur railway station. A special relief train from Gorakhpur will ensure passengers reach their destinations," said Kirti Vardhan Singh to ANI. Pankaj Singh, CPRO of North Eastern Railway, confirmed the accident's toll: two fatalities and seven injuries.
"The train derailed between Motiganj and Dhilai, injuring seven individuals—six with minor injuries—and resulting in two deaths. Our main priority is expediting the rescue operation to resume train services promptly. A helpline number has been set up. A special train will ferry passengers to their destinations, and the railway team is on-site to restore the track," CPRO Pankaj Singh told ANI. SP Vineet Jaiswal relayed, "Thus far, two fatalities have been recorded. Six victims are critically injured and hospitalized. Others with minor injuries have received immediate first aid at a nearby CHC. The coaches have been thoroughly checked to ensure no one remains trapped."
Uttar Pradesh's Relief Commissioner revealed on X that NDRF teams from Lucknow and Balrampur were dispatched to Gonda. He added, "Five ambulances were initially deployed for rescue efforts, and additional ambulances have been summoned. First aid is administered on-site, and injured parties are being shifted to medical facilities. SDRF teams from three districts are accelerating relief operations."
