Maharashtra's Majhi Ladki Bahin Yojana Sees Overwhelming Response in Marathwada

More than 9.27 lakh applications have been received for the Mukhya Mantri Majhi Ladki Bahin Yojana, a welfare scheme for underprivileged women in Maharashtra's Marathwada region. The scheme offers Rs 1,500 per month to married, divorced, and destitute women aged 21-60. The response has been higher in rural areas.

More than 9.27 lakh applications have flooded in for Maharashtra's Mukhya Mantri Majhi Ladki Bahin Yojana from the Marathwada region, officials reported on Thursday.

Announced last month in the state budget, the scheme provides Rs 1,500 per month to married, divorced, and destitute women between the ages of 21 and 60, with an annual family income cap of Rs 2.5 lakh.

The majority of applications hail from rural parts of Marathwada, with Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar leading the districts in application numbers.
