The National President of the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP), Mayawati, criticized the Congress-led Karnataka government for reversing its reservation policy for administrative and non-administrative posts. She voiced her concerns on her social media account X, attacking the decision made on July 17 to withdraw the reservations under pressure from industrialists.

Mayawati accused the Congress government of succumbing to pressure from wealthy industrialists, comparing them to BJP supporters. She argued that the decision to backtrack on the reservations is indicative of a broader issue within the state. Following the announcement by Chief Minister Siddaramiah, the policy was put on hold pending further discussion in the next cabinet meeting.

BJP leader CT Ravi added fuel to the controversy, terming the government's actions as 'natakbaazi,' or theatrical. He criticized the Congress government, claiming they are diverting attention from more pressing issues like the closure of Kannada schools in the state. Meanwhile, CM Siddaramiah stated that the proposed bill is still in the preparation stage and will undergo comprehensive discussions before a final decision is made.
