An imposter fraudulently availed of medical insurance benefits intended for lawyers under the Chief Minister Advocate Welfare Scheme, claiming Rs. 63,000 using Advocate Saroj Bala's identity. The scheme provides Rs. 5 lakh in mediclaim insurance if advocates are hospitalized.
The incident came to light when Advocate Saroj Bala, who operates from Dwarka District Court, received a notice from the Insurance TPA regarding a Rs. 63,000 claim supposedly for her treatment. Shocked, Bala discovered that her Bar Council enrollment was missing and had never been hospitalized, prompting her to file a complaint with Dwarka police station and notify the insurance authorities.
According to the complaint, Health India TPA Services indicated that on June 11, an individual was admitted to RG Stone and Laproscopy Hospital under Bala's identity, using her health policy to claim Rs. 63,000. Bala alleges that the fraudster used her identity card and documents she had lost, causing financial loss and raising serious concerns about the security of her personal information.
Bala stated her renewed Bar Council of Delhi (BCD) card was exploited for this fraud. Although she received the renewed BCD card in July, the fraud occurred in June. She has also lodged a complaint with the Bar Council of Delhi to investigate this breach.
