Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha conveyed his condolences on the death of senior Communist Party of India (Marxist) leader Samir Chakraborty. The longtime CPI(M) leader passed away at the age of 72 early Thursday at a private hospital in Agartala.
On Friday, Chief Minister Saha visited Chakraborty's residence in Agartala to extend his sympathy and support to the grieving family. Saha noted his professional acquaintance with Chakraborty and his family over many years.
During his visit, CM Saha engaged with Chakraborty's relatives and expressed his sorrow in a brief interaction with the media. 'I have known Samir Chakraborty and his family for a long time. They regularly consulted me for medical reasons and were frequent visitors to our printing press. His loss is deeply felt,' Saha commented.
CM Saha mentioned Chakraborty's prolonged health complications due to high blood sugar and other issues, which eventually led to surgery. Chakraborty passed away at ILS Hospital. 'I am deeply saddened by his passing. My prayers are with his family,' Saha added.
