Karnataka Feels Betrayed by Union Budget 2024-25

Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has criticized the Union Budget 2024-25, presented by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, as neglectful of the state. Despite Karnataka's requests for special grants and funding for various projects, none were addressed. The state leaders claim the budget favors alliance partners from Bihar and Andhra Pradesh.

Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has voiced strong criticism against the Union Budget 2024-25, labeling it as neglectful towards the state. Despite Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman representing Karnataka in the Rajya Sabha, the Chief Minister claims that the budget has overlooked the state's demands.

Siddaramaiah pointed out that, unlike Andhra Pradesh and Bihar, Karnataka did not receive any special grants or monetary support for industrial and railway sectors. His sentiments were echoed by Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar, who called the budget a political move to appease NDA's key allies.

The Chief Minister also lamented the non-fulfillment of promises made during pre-budget discussions, highlighting critical unmet needs such as disaster relief, urban and rural housing schemes, and the establishment of an AIIMS in Raichur. The leaders assert that the fight for Karnataka's rightful share of resources will continue.
