Goa Shipyard Ltd (GSL) marked a major milestone on Tuesday with the successful launch of Triput, the first indigenous frigate of the P1135.6 Class. This vessel is the first of two such frigates being constructed indigenously, showcasing India's move towards self-reliance under the 'Atmanirbhar Bharat' initiative.

The launch ceremony, graced by Adv. Rita Sreedharan and PS Sreedharan Pillai, Governor of Goa, was a significant event. Vice Admiral Krishna Swaminathan and Brajesh Kumar Upadhyay, Chairman and Managing Director of GSL, along with other eminent defense and naval officials, attended the occasion, highlighting the milestone's importance.

Built from a specialized low-carbon micro-alloy grade indigenous steel, the 124-meter-long frigate features state-of-the-art technology, including advanced weapons systems, integrated management systems, and extensive indigenous features. It aims to fulfill the Indian Navy's requirement for versatile naval warfare capabilities. The project, enhancing local industry and MSME inclusion, is a testament to India's growing defense manufacturing prowess.

Governor PS Sreedharan Pillai commended the collective effort of the Ministry of Defence, the Indian Navy, and the industry for achieving this critical milestone, urging continued strides towards self-reliance. The launch of Triput not only cements GSL's position as a key player in warship construction but also showcases the nation's advanced warship-building capabilities.
