Minority Affairs Ministry Sees Budget Increase for 2024-25

The budgetary allocation for the Ministry of Minority Affairs has increased to Rs 3,183.24 crore for 2024-25, up by Rs 574.31 crore from the previous year’s revised estimate. Significant funds are dedicated to education empowerment, including the Pre-Matric and Post-Matric Scholarships for Minorities.

In a boost to minority communities, the budgetary allocation for the Ministry of Minority Affairs has been increased by Rs 574.31 crore, reaching a total of Rs 3,183.24 crore for the fiscal year 2024-25. This comes after a revised estimate of Rs 2,608.93 crore for the current fiscal year.

Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman presented the budget, marking her seventh consecutive presentation, surpassing the record previously held by former prime minister Morarji Desai. This budget is also notable as the first for the third term of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's government.

Significant allocations have been made within the ministry's budget: Rs 1,575.72 crore is earmarked for education empowerment, including Rs 326.16 crore for Pre-Matric Scholarships and Rs 1,145.38 crore for Post-Matric Scholarships for Minorities. Additionally, Rs 910.90 crore has been allocated for the 'Pradhan Mantri Jan Vikas Karyakram', a major program under the ministry.
