The government announced on Tuesday its plan to release a comprehensive five-year financial sector vision and strategy document designed to meet the financial needs of the country.

'To address the economy's financing needs, our government will introduce a financial sector vision and strategy document. This aims to scale the sector in terms of size, capacity, and skills,' declared Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman during the Budget 2024-25 presentation in the Lok Sabha. This blueprint will guide the government, regulators, financial institutions, and market participants over the next five years, she elaborated.

Sitharaman also revealed plans to develop a taxonomy for climate finance to boost capital availability for climate adaptation and mitigation efforts. 'This will support the country's climate commitments and green transition,' she stated.
