A soldier who sustained injuries during a firefight in the Battal sector of Jammu has succumbed to his injuries on Tuesday. The White Knight Corps publicly honored Lance Naik Subhash Chander's ultimate sacrifice, expressing condolences to his family and pledging solidarity in their time of grief.
The soldier was wounded while repelling an infiltration attempt by terrorists. The exchange of fire took place between Monday night and early Tuesday, indicating heightened tensions along the border in Jammu.
Earlier, terrorists targeted the Village Development Committee in Gunda village, Rajouri, leading to another firefight with security forces. The White Knight Corps reported that nearby Army units quickly responded to the incursion.
Jammu has seen an increase in terror incidents, including attacks on an Army convoy in Kathua and multiple encounters in Doda and Udhampur. Recently, troops opened fire at suspicious movements near the Line of Control in Sunderbani, Rajouri.
In another engagement, two Army soldiers were injured in a firefight with terrorists in Kastigarh, Doda. This encounter followed an incident where four soldiers, including an officer, were killed while battling terrorists in Doda earlier in the week.
On July 15, based on specific intelligence, a joint operation by the Indian Army and Jammu and Kashmir Police in north Doda resulted in heavy firefighting. Captain Brijesh Thapa, Naik D Rajesh, and Sepoys Bijendra and Ajay were killed. Their heroism has been duly recognized by the military establishment. (ANI)
